About Us
My Story
My name is Hollis Lewis. I am a husband, father, football coach, advocate for people in crisis, and I have spent my career making our communities a better and safer place for our children. I want your vote on November 5.
I grew up in Charleston. Like too many West Virginians I knew poverty and witnessed drug abuse by the adults around me. I worked hard to overcome those challenges. I went to West Virginia State University, played on its football team, and graduated with a B. S. in Criminal Justice. After that I earned my law degree from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
I returned to Charleston because I love West Virginia. I am the West Virginia Crisis Intervention Teams Project Director for First Choice Services which manages several important programs and helplines including the 988 suicide and crisis hotline, a children’s crisis and referral helpline, programs for alcohol and drug addiction, and much more. Every day I help West Virginians get the help and support they need. I am also an adjunct Criminal Justice professor at West Virginia State. I’ve been a quarterbacks coach for South Charleston High School, George Washington High School, Dunbar Middle School and at West Virginia State University as well as coached youth leagues. I’ve also served as a federal clerk, Kanawha County Magistrate and member of the West Virginia
Parole Board.
My wife is Dr. Elisha Lewis, who chairs the Education Department at West Virginia State. We are the proud parents of four daughters.
